DON'T LET THE WIND CATCH YOU - MARK YOUR CALENDER FOR AUGUST 15TH!

DON'T LET THE WIND CATCH YOU: A Gus LeGarde Mystery (BOOK 6)

It's been a long time coming, but DON'T LET THE WIND CATCH YOU, the sequel to TREMOLO: CRY OF THE LOON, is here! If you enjoy eBooks and plan to buy the new Kindle version, please consider downloading it on August 15th or 16th, when my publisher will be discounting the price from $4.99 to $2.99.

We're trying to use this time frame for what is known in industry as a "book blast" or "book bomb" to help drive the Amazon numbers to number 1.

Will you help? If you don't read eBooks yet, consider "gifting" this to someone you love who does! It is suitable for young adults through mature adults and has seemed to appeal to a wide range of readers to date.

The new eBook is already up on Barnes and Noble, if you're a Nook reader. The print and audio books will be available in another few months, probably mid-November, so for those of you who prefer to hold the book in your hands or listen to an actor read to you, never fear, they are both on their way!

Here's a bit about the story:

DON'T LET THE WIND CATCH YOU: A Gus LeGarde Mystery

When young Gus LeGarde befriends a cranky old hermit in the woods who speaks to an Oneida Indian spirit named Penaki, he wonders if the man is nuts. But when Penni rattles tin cups, draws on dusty mirrors, and flips book pages, pestering them to find evidence to avenge her past and free her from earthly bondage, things change.

What Gus doesn’t understand is why his mother hates Tully. His relentless digging reveals a hint of scandal about Tully and Gus’s maternal grandfather, Marlowe Wright. Can his natural compassion help him accept the not-so-normal facts about Tully and Marlowe?

On horseback, Gus and his friends ride through woods overlooking Conesus Lake, following Penni’s trail to an abandoned house reportedly infected with the deadly Genesee Valley Fever from the 1700s. Unafraid, they enter and make an astounding find that could rewrite history.

Gus summons courage beyond his years in this poignant and powerful telling of the sultry summer of 1965.

Here are a few blurbs from advanced reviewers:

"I decided to review this book almost for the forbidden, chocolate-covered cherry deliciousness of it. A wallow in mystery, another era, the mid-1960s, a gorgeous upstate New York region, a new take on what could be a shameful moment in Colonial American history."  - Noelle Sterne, author of Trust Your Life: Forgive Yourself and Go After Your Dreams (www.trustyourlifenow.com)

"A truly beautiful coming of age story...Lazar also throws in a lesson to the reader as he takes an issue that is prevalent in today’s society and deals with it in a sensitive way through the eyes of a young boy whose innocence has not yet been tainted by the prejudices of our world today." - Cindy Taylor, allbooksreviewsint.com

"Rarely has an author given us such insight into a single character through a book series...  As always, the writing is beautiful and delicate, rich with musical influence – in this case, the music of the 1960s, with the lovely local setting of the Genesee Valley. There are touches of history too as we learn about the Groveland Ambuscade...Despite the serious issues that the book addresses, this is as suitable for a young adult reader as for an adult, and will appeal to wide audience. It’s clear that Lazar has come to know and love his characters and every time he revisits them, he brings out new nuances and depths, so that returning to a Gus Lazar mystery is like meeting an old friend once again."  - Magdalena Ball, CompulsiveReader.com
